Charlie (formerly Charles Irwin) is a 3-piece indie rock outfit hailing from Tampa, Florida consisting of members Gabriel “Sally” Perez (vox, guitar), Esteban Martinez (bass), and Micah Gilbert (drums, vox). Family ties and strong bonds cultivated through art, skateboarding and a love for music are what brought the three together to form a band. Charlie’s sound has evolved into what can best be described as sludgy, low end riffs and chord progressions coupled with angular melodies. The band grew out of the western Florida coast D.I.Y. scene along with artists like They Hate Change in cramped garages and house parties. They eventually paved their way to 14.1k monthly listeners on Spotify, going on full fledged tours, and supporting various artists such as Of Montreal, Good Morning, Joy Again, ARTHUR, Michael Seyer, Paul Cherry, Post Animal, White Reaper, The Nude Party, proving that they have their niche within the experimental guitar-based music circuit.
