Grim Streaker
Grim Streaker’s energetic strain of art-punk is the only constant for the restless Brooklyn quartet. The band made their name in venues and DIY spaces all over North America (playing alongside METZ, IDLES, Surfbort, A Place To Bury Strangers and more). The band quickly became known for their precise and frenetic pace, which lays the foundation for Bushell’s explosive performances. “A blaze of energy onstage” wrote CLASH magazine, while The FADER called their 2019 release “razor-sharp modern punk that harkens back to the icons of the genre.” Grim Streaker returned with MIND in March of 2022, a surreal, subversive world of four songs that reflects on the current state of mental health, laughable social constructs and the inescapable working grind. MIND is careening disco, seductive R&B, rhythmic onslaughts and pure fun with a punk edge, packed into 14 minutes. For fans of Viagra Boys, Bodega and Dry Cleaning.
P.E.
Formed in 2018 by multi-instrumentalists Jonny Campolo, Jonathan Schenke and Bob Jones, saxophonist Benjamin Jaffe, and vocalist Veronica Torres, P.E. released their debut LP Person on Wharf Cat Records in March 2020. In quick succession, they released a pair of covers (I Wanna Be Your Dog, Boy), a series of remixes (for Liars, Gong Gong Gong, et al.), and the Pitchfork-lauded The Reason For My Love EP, and toured with Parquet Courts in Fall 2021. The group’s sophomore LP The Leather Lemon followed in March 2022, earning acclaim from publications like Bandcamp Daily, Stereogum, and BrooklynVegan for the refinement and expansion of their dynamic sound. Featuring a rotating cast of characters, the NOPE Tapes are rooted in collaboration and experimentation, and expand the horizons of P.E.’s prolific and fluorescent catalog.
Tiers La Familia
Tiers La Familia was started by no-disciplinary artist Joe Sidney of Flushing, Queens in 2021. TLF works quickly: Sidney released two debut tapes of lo-fi electronics and madcap punk in 2022. The following year, Sidney was joined by Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers, Modern Nature) and Cheryl L. Kingan (75 Dollar Bill, The Scene Is Now) for positive and danceable live shows all over New York and the soon-to-be-released double album “Tier Apparent.”
