wakelee
Formed in Brooklyn in 2019, wakelee consists of identical twins Alex (vocals/guitar) and David Bulmer (drums) and Elliot Shiang (vocals/bass). They met at a friend's show in New York and immediately bonded over Halal food and music. They have since released an EP, a healthy batch of emo-tinged singles, and their self-titled debut album, produced by Brian DiMeglio (Bartees Strange, Superbloom, Proper) in April 2023.
Uncle Skunk
Uncle Skunk is a homegrown NYC rock band that excels in spinning songs that draw from musical traditions ranging from folk to metal. They are gearing up for the release of their third EP “II”, set to drop June 2024.
Alphabet City
Once upon a time, amongst the bric a brac of post-hipsterdom and the vinyl revival emerged garage rockers Alphabet City. The sack lunch bunch’s sound is a marriage of Velvet Underground-esque naïveté, witty wordplay, and 60’s pop sensibilities. Acid-tongued high priest Iyare Omaseye channels all of this into his anthems, buoyed by “jack of all trades” handyman Max Had and artist-in-resident 4 string zinger Alyssa Tumale. Someday the band plans to conquer the world, but in the meantime they’ll settle for charming the hearts of the tastemakers of the Brooklyn scene.
